I have a deep abiding love for our city. As a native, I have been witness to her ups and to her downs. With each passing year I am reminded about her uniqueness and her beauty. We are fortunate to have Crossroads Charlotte provide us with a forum where we can share the possibilities and discuss what lies beneath surface - maybe we can bridge the gap between what separates us and what connects us.

It would be great if this is how Charlotte will turn out to be by 2010. But unfortunately the economy would have to change dramatically. It is something that we could all strive for and possibly things could be a little better around Charlotte economically before 2010.

I feel it is great that there is someone trying to make a change in the community with the youth center. Also I feel the mother should let her son stay where he feel he is comfortable, also if he is learning well he is. Equal Education should be offered no matter the race. In the very beginning, I think it shows that just being friendly or talking to someone can make someone's day. I believe this to be true. Being friendly doesn't hurt. Also in the end where the community comes together to help build the center together is very nice and all, but I haven't really seen anything like that come true at least before my eyes.

In this particular film, I think it's very easy to villainize the single white mother. Even the actress who portrayed her said in a recent interview "I don't think she's aware. What a hoot! You missed the boat when you could have really gotten the audience. The part where the Vet was attacked by the skinheads is where you should have had metals for valor etc falling out with the Bible of the meager possessions from the torn and tattered bag.
