Mecklenburg Youth Voice

Mecklenburg Youth Voice (MYV) is a youth-driven and youth-led initiative of Kids Voting. High school students create and foster opportunities for youth voice in education policy and local issue decisions that impact youth. Students convene to raise and discuss issues, attend government meetings, follow issues in the media and have conversations with public officials. MYV is open to all high school students. More than a mock vote, Kids Voting supports K-12 academic achievement and helps students to develop strategies, skills and knowledge needed for effective 21st century civic leadership and engagement. Standards-based classroom programs and community civic experiences include K-12 education and teacher support, the "Kids Voting" Election, Youth Leadership Council/Youth Voice and YouthCivics.
