On February 3, 2009, Crossroads Charlotte came to life in the community because you were there to make it happen.

Thank you for joining in this historic event in the life of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

Over 1,800 people attended the premiere of “Crossroads Charlotte: The Movie” and stayed afterwards to talk, share and discuss what they could do to act.

Behind the scenes, a new website was launched at www.crossroadscharlotte.org that offers a place for people to experience the stories, connect and act.

Together, we began to imagine our tomorrow, and we’re acting today.

What You Can Do to Act:

1. Share the Crossroads experience with friends and neighbors. Share the Crossroads Charlotte stories and a discussion with family, friends, neighbors and colleagues through the Crossroads Charlotte: The Movie DVD (available by request to Crossroads Charlotte) or by going to the website. You might discuss:

• In your opinion, which of the 4 stories is most reflective of where Charlotte-Mecklenburg is now or where it is headed?

• Based on your choice, is that story reflective of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg you experience or live in everyday? Why or why not?

• What do the 4 stories and the future of Charlotte-Mecklenburg that they represent inspire you to do now as an individual?

• Do you feel you can shape the future of Charlotte-Mecklenburg?

Crossroads: Out of the Box

For a deeper dive, you are invited to participate in a pilot group to test Crossroads: Out of the Box - a user-friendly resource guide will allow you and others to host Crossroads Charlotte discussions with family, friends, neighbors
and other small groups. Crossroads: Out of the Box is designed to
unleash ideas and generate solutions from the public in response to the
four Crossroads stories.

If you are interested and would be willing to host a group of 10-12
friends and/or colleagues and then provide feedback, now is your
opportunity. To sign up or for additional information, please contact
Annetta Foard at afoard@communitybuildinginitiative.org. Space will be
limited.

2. Go to www.crossroadscharlotte.org. Experience the stories, join as a member by signing up as an individual, or create a Group profile that shows what you’re doing in our community to act. You can also express where you think our community is headed using current news and events.

3. Request a facilitated conversation with your group or organization of 25 people or more. The sessions are designed to provide an overview of Crossroads, introduce the four Crossroads stories, and provide an opportunity for interaction and conversation among participants. We have trained facilitators who can come to you with the Crossroads experience and help your group craft a way to act. Go to the website or call us!

4. Enter our Crossroads song and video contest later this Spring! We will be announcing a contest this Spring as we release a Crossroads theme song and open up a competition for the best new version of the song AND a video contest. Take a look at the poets’ story responses on the website and respond with your own!

5. Come to Conversations @ the Crossroads. Conversations @ the Crossroads is an interactive community session that allows you an opportunity to discuss relevant community issues related to the four Crossroads stories. These sessions are open to individuals, family members, neighbors, and other groups and are designed to stimulate and encourage intentional dialogue. Three identical sessions will be offered. Join us in a conversation about the future of Charlotte on one of the following dates:

o Thursday, February 26, 2009 (6:00pm – 7:30pm)
o Tuesday, March 24, 2009 (6:00pm – 7:30pm)
o Thursday, April 16, 2009 (6:00pm – 7:30pm)

The locations will be announced on www.crossroadscharlotte.org.

6. Become a Crossroads Storyteller. Crossroads Charlotte wants to capture the unique experiences of people, organizations, and networks connected to Crossroads. You are invited to become a Crossroads Storyteller and learn skills for engaging people across lines of difference in conversations that matter. Trainings will teach creative methods for storytelling including poems, visual art, and journaling. If this interests you, please contact Annetta Foard at afoard@communitybuildinginitiative.org or Stacey Richards at srichards@fftc.org.

For additional information about Crossroads and opportunities to get involved, log on to www.crossroadscharlotte.org or call 704-973-4565.

Our goal is to use e-mail communications prudently. The best way to keep informed about Crossroads Charlotte is to join as a member on www.crossroadscharlotte.org for regular updates and news.

Thank you again.
